Virtualisation software (also known as a "hypervisor") is the central component of a virtualisation server. It controls all the virtual machines run on a server and assigns processor and memory resources to them. If this component is attacked successfully, this will also compromise all the virtual IT systems that are run on the corresponding virtualisation server.
