Article 2 (10)
‘genetically modified micro-organisms’ means micro-organisms in which the genetic material has been altered in a way that does not occur naturally by mating and/or by natural recombination; within the terms of this definition:

genetic modification occurs at least through the use of the techniques listed in Part 1 of Annex I A to Directive 2001/18/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council (18),
|
|
—
|
the techniques listed in Part 2 of Annex I A to the same Directive are not considered to result in genetic modification;
