These guidelines specify certain aspects of the prevention of conflicts of interest in, and on the supervisory independence of, competent authorities in accordance with Article 4a of Directive 2013/36/EU² , taking into account international best practices including the Core Principles for effective banking supervision issued by the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision and the Joint European Supervisory Authorities’ criteria on the independence of supervis ory authorities³ .
