Article 172 5.
The limited period referred to in the first subparagraph of paragraph 4 shall end on 31 December 2020 or on the date on which, in accordance with paragraph 2, the supervisory regime of that third country has been deemed to be equivalent to that laid down in Title I, whichever is the earlier. That period may be extended by up to one year where necessary for EIOPA and the Commission to carry out the assessment of equivalence for the purposes of paragraph 2.
