While Article 4(9) of Directive 2014/49/EU requires DGSs to ensure the confidentiality and the protection of the data pertaining to depositors’ accounts and the processing of such data in accordance with Directive 95/46/EC⁷ , it should not preclude cooperation agreements from setting more stringent standards, provided this is agreed to in the cooperation agreement.
